Public 2017 Budget Hearing

 

Thursday, November 17, 2016                                      7:00 p.m.                                            Town Hall
The hearing for the 2017 Budget was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by 1st Supervisor Dan Rettler.  Officials Present:  1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Clerk Karen Herman, and Treasurer Jeri Ohman.  Chairman Dan Knutzen was excused from this hearing.

The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the ACN/Times Press newspaper the week of October 31, 2016.  The agenda was also posted at the three posting places, Town website, and the Town Hall front door on November 1, 2016.

The Income and Expenditure categories and budget plans were reviewed.

The Town Board will review and approve the 2017 budget on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the monthly Town Board meeting which starts at 7:00 p.m.

MOTION:  Neubert/Rettler to adjourn at 7:04 p.m.  All said aye.  Motion carried.

To approve the 2016 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2017 and
the compensation for elected town officials for next term of office

Immediately following the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed year 2017 budget, Dan Rettler called the special town meeting of the electors to adopt the 2016 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2017 to order at 7:04 p.m..  Officials Present:  1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Clerk Karen Herman, and Treasurer Jeri Ohman.  Chairman Dan Knutzen was excused from this meeting.

The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the ACN/Times Press newspaper the week of October 31, 2016.  The agenda was also posted at the three posting places, Town’s website and at the Town Hall front door on November 1, 2016.

Total proposed budget of income and expenses for 2017 is at $379,060.  Expenditures for 2016 were $358,568 which is a 5.71495% increase for 2017.

2015’s assessed value (includes real and personal property) was $92,753,700.  The 2016’s assessed value is $93,324,800.  This is an increased value of $571,100 which is a .61571% increase of assessed value for 2016.

The Mil rate was $2.227048 for 2015.  The Mil rate for 2016 is $2.235922.  This amount has increased by $.008874 from the previous year.

The allowable levy for 2016 payable in 2017 is $208,667.  The 2015 payable 2016’s town levy was $206,567.  The amount of the town levy would be up $2,100 an increase of 1.01661% from 2016’s budget.

A show of hands was done to approve the 2016 town tax levy paid out in 2017 for $208,667 and to approve the compensation for the elected officials and workers of the town: 
4 aye; 0 nay; 0 abstaining or not voting.  Approved.  Supervisor #1 and Clerk signed levy resolution.

MOTION:  Rettler/Neubert to adjourn at 7:09 p.m.  All said aye.  Motion carried.
