Public 2025 Budget Hearing

The hearing for the 2025 Budget was called to order at 6:45 p.m. by Chairman Dan Knutzen. Officials Present: Chairman Dan Knutzen, 1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Treasurer Jennifer Court, Clerk Barbara Chizek and Mike & Brenda Garvey.
The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the Seymour Advertiser newspaper, and posted at the posting place and Town Website the week of October 28, 2024 and November 4, 2024.
The Income and Expenditure categories and budget plans were reviewed.
The Town Board will review and approve the 2025 budget at the December 09, 2024 monthly Town Board meeting which starts at 7:00 p.m.
MOTION: Neubert/ Rettler to adjourn at 6:49 p.m. All said aye. Motion carried.

To approve the 2024 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2025

Immediately following the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed year 2025 budget, Chairman Dan Knutzen called the special town meeting of the electors to adopt the 2024 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2025 to order at 6:50 p.m. Officials Present: Chairman Dan Knutzen, 1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Treasurer Jennifer Court, Clerk Barbara Chizek and Mike & Brenda Garvey.
The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the Seymour Advertiser newspaper the week of October 28, 2024 and November 4, 2024. The agenda was also posted at the posting place and the Town website on October 28, 2024 and November 4, 2024.
Total proposed budget of income and expenses for 2025 is $536,377. Expenditures for 2024 were $538,242. Difference of $1,905 which is a 0.3552% decrease for 2025.
2024’s assessed value (includes real and personal property) was $129,083.600. The 2025’s assessed value is $130,708,500. This is an increased value of $1,624,900 which is a 1.25880% increase of assessed value for 2025.
The Mil rate was $1.80397045 for 2023. The Mil rate for 2024 is $1.79883481. This amount has decreased by $-0.00513564 from the previous year.
The 2024 payable 2025 allowable levy is $235,123. The 2023 payable 2024’s town levy was $232,863. The amount of the town levy would be up $2,260 an increase of 0.97053% from 2024’s budget due to net new construction.
The resolution was read. A show of hands was done to approve the 2024 Town Tax Levy paid out in 2025 which would be $235,125. 7 aye; 0 nay; 0 abstaining or not voting. Approved. Chairman and Clerk signed the resolution.
MOTION: Neubert /seconded by Rettler made the motion to Approve Compensation for Elected Town Officials for the next term of Office.
