Public 2023 Budget Hearing

 

Monday, November 14, 2022                                      6:45 p.m.                                       Town Hall
The hearing for the 2023 Budget was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by Chairman Dan Knutzen.  Officials Present:  Chairman Dan Knutzen, 1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Clerk Christy Stover, and Treasurer Jennifer Court.   Other people present:  Mike Garvey, Barb Chizek, Mike Bissing and Darrin Stingle.

The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the Seymour Advertiser newspaper the week of October 30, 2022.  The agenda was also posted at the posting place and Town website October 30, 2022.

The Income and Expenditure categories and budget plans were reviewed.  No changes were made

 

The Town Board will review and approve the 2023 budget at the December 14, 2022 monthly Town Board meeting which starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

MOTION:  Rettler/Neubert to adjourn at 6:55 p.m.  All said aye.  Motion carried.

To approve the 2022 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2023

Immediately following the completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed year 2023 budget, Chairman Dan Knutzen called the special town meeting of the electors to adopt the 2022 Town “tax levy” to be paid in 2023 to order at 6:55 p.m.  Officials Present:  Chairman Dan Knutzen, 1st Supervisor Dan Rettler, 2nd Supervisor Tom Neubert, Clerk Christy Stover, and Treasurer Jennifer Court.

The agenda was posted according to the open meeting law in the Seymour Advertiser newspaper the week of October 30, 2022.  The agenda was also posted at the posting place and the Town website on October 30, 2022.

Total proposed budget of income and expenses for 2023 is $464,642.  Expenditures for 2022 were $452,907 which is a 2.59104% increase for 2023.

 

2021’s assessed value (includes real and personal property) was $126,400,400.  The 2022’s assessed value is $127,746,300.  This is an increased value of $1,345,900 which is a 1.06479% increase of assessed value for 2022.

 

The Mil rate was $1.78703548 for 2021.  The Mil rate for 2022 is $1.80287022.  This amount has increased by $.01583474 from the previous year.

The 2022 payable 2023 allowable levy is $230,310.  The 2021 payable 2022’s town levy was $225,882.  The amount of the town levy would be up $4,428 an increase of 1.96032% from 2022’s budget due to net new construction. 

The resolution was read.  A show of hands was done to approve the 2022 town tax levy paid out in 2023 which would be $230,310 and to approve the compensation for the elected officials:  9 aye; 0 nay; 0 abstaining or not voting.  Approved.  Chairman and Clerk sign the resolution.
